Baby Steps

My friend Aleesa so gently hinted to me that my blog is in need of updating. My last post was before Christmas, so I guess she might be right...

My husband so gently hinted to me that it has been a while since I have shined my sink. The last time I shined my sink was probably around this time, so I guess he might be right...

My parents, in-laws, and siblings so gently hinted that I haven't been so diligent in keeping their picture frames updated. My memory cards are full and my Photoshop skills rusty, so I guess they might be right...

My scale so gently hinted that it has been a while since I've paid attention to my health. Since my treadmill is covered in potential garage sale items and my water bottle is at the top of the cabinet way in the back, I guess it might be right...

My Heavenly Father so gently hinted to me that it has been a while since I have had more than a "hit and run" quiet time. The last time I remember doing that was right before Spring Break, so I guess He might be right...

It has been easy lately for me to beat myself up over the things I haven't been doing or to even air a laundry list of excuses for not doing these things. But instead of beating myself up, I am going to tackle this FlyLady-style: Baby Steps. That involves doing just a little bit of each task each day and taking full advantage of a trusty little thing called a timer!

So here's to finally creating a blog post, shining my sink, drinking more water, opening up Photoshop, and diving deeper into the Word. And all in one week!

Oh, I can't forget a photo of my kiddos. They have grown quite a bit since Christmas!

I am alive and Photoshopping!

Looking at my Blogger dashboard, it appears that I have neglected my blog for quite some time! I am here to assure you that we are alive and well, but extremely busy! "Busy doing what?" you might ask. Well since you asked...vacation, Vacation Bible School, visiting old friends (well, not that they're OLD...but I sure do feel old seeing how big their kiddos are now), making new friends, vacation (yes, another one!), and learning new techniques on Photoshop!

Whew! That sounds like a lot, but if you throw in attacking massive loads of laundry, swimming in the backyard, reading If You Will Ask by Oswald Chambers, chatting endlessly with my little sister, and learning Indiana Jones LEGO on the Xbox, it really sounds like I've had NO time to blog!

So just to get back in the swing of things, I'm going to do a hit and run post. After all, I've got photos to Photoshop.

Is that an actual verb?! Well, it is now!

Mckmama gave this Photoshop tutorial on making antique-looking photos awhile back and I am just now getting around to trying it out. Needless to say, I am hooked!

Here are the fruits of my labor:

Before

After

Wasn't that cool! Run on over to Mckmama's tutorial to check out how I did that.

You didn't think I'd write a post without the obligatory pictures of my kiddos did you?!

That would be insane!

Enjoy your weekend! Can you guess what I'll be doing?

Super?! Me?!

My son's preschool teacher, Sheila, just gave me this "super" award! She must be working on securing a good end-0f-the-year gift! Just joking Sheila! I have it already haha! At any rate, I feel mighty special that Sheila chose me as one of her "super bloggers." I admire her for the awesome way she commands a classroom full of 3 and 4-year-olds while still gaining their unyielding love and devotion! My son thinks she is the smartest, funniest, and sweetest person, and I can't help but agree. Thank you Sheila!

Here are the rules of accepting this award:

  • Tape the award somewhere on your blog

  • Pass it along to 5 fellow super bloggers, and comment on their blog to let them know how lucky they are today!

  • When you present your Super Blogger awards, link back to the super blogger who gave it to you.

So without further ado, (drumroll please...) here are 5 of my favorite bloggers:

  • Christy's blog is one that I check every day! We attend the same church, but have never officially met. She is a joy and inspiration to those she meets (in real life and online) and I can't wait to chat with her face-to-face!

  • At Aleesa's blog, I get a chance to see the inner workings of another house with a precocious (albeit darling) four-year-old! We also attend the same church and our "darlings" are both students of Mrs. Sheila. Darling four-year-olds aside (well, if that's possible!), I enjoy chatting with Aleesa while we work on projects for the children's department at church.

  • Random Alien Musings is a blog by my dear high school friend Kunta (formerly known as Joe)! His blog is thought-provoking and fun, and I realize how much I miss him and his beautiful wife each time I read what he has to say. While his accepting this award my prove tricky (seeing as how the award says "the masked mommy"), I feel confidant that Joe is secure enough in his manhood to pass the award on to others!

  • I will cheat and add a sixth recipient because I have three dear cousins who all blog: Kim, Lori, and Tricia are my sweet cousins with their extra sweet husbands and syrupy sweet children (I suddenly feel the need to brush my teeth)! We had so much fun growing up, but as it goes more often than not, growing up means growing apart (in our cases, geographically speaking). Our reunion this summer will be a blast!

I've Taken the Plunge!

Okay, so here goes! I've been thinking about joining the blogosphere for quite some time now, but just never sat down to do it. Partly because I thought "Who cares about my life anyway?" but mostly because I wanted a catchy title for it like some really great blogs I've been reading. Then it hit me one day when my darling husband Kevin was giving me a hard time about having so many unfinished projects. He said "You always seem to be chasing butterflies." That's when the proverbial lightbulb went off and the rest, as they say, is history...or in my case "herstory."

Who knows what will turn up on this blog (that is if I don't get caught up chasing another butterfly). I guess we'll just see where this butterfly takes us!
